Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Sticks to 4,400mAh Battery – Here’s Why It Didn’t Get a Bigger One
At yesterday’s Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Z Flip7 FE. While the Flip7 got a notable battery upgrade, the Z Fold7 retains the same 4,400 mAh battery found in last year’s Fold6—and that’s raising eyebrows.
Why Didn't the Galaxy Z Fold7 Get a Bigger Battery?
In a statement to SamMobile, Samsung explained the reasoning behind the battery decision:
> “Galaxy Z Flip users demanded a bigger battery. For Fold7, our priorities were better cameras, a thinner and lighter build, and a wider cover display.”
So while the Flip7’s battery saw a boost due to direct user feedback, Samsung focused on refinements in portability and imaging for the Fold7—trading extra capacity for comfort and improved features.
What Samsung Improved on the Z Fold7
Despite no change in battery size, the Fold7 brings major upgrades:
Thinner and lighter frame
Wider cover screen for better usability
Upgraded camera system
More durable build and hinge
Samsung is clearly positioning the Fold7 as a serious challenger to Chinese foldables like those from Honor, Xiaomi, and Huawei.
The Battery Limitation: Is 4,400mAh Enough?
That’s still a big question. With larger displays and more powerful hardware, 4,400mAh feels tight—especially since other brands have moved to silicon-carbon (Si/C) batteries, offering more energy density in the same space.
Unless Samsung makes that shift, future Fold devices may remain stuck at 4,400mAh—potentially limiting screen-on time across dual displays.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Pricing (U.S.)
