T-Mobile Launches T-Satellite Nationwide: Text Messaging Now Available via Space
After months of successful testing with over 2 million users, T-Mobile has officially launched T-Satellite, its groundbreaking satellite-based texting service, for everyone across the U.S. and beyond.
T-Satellite uses more than 650 low-Earth orbit satellites to function like space-based cell towers, making it part of what T-Mobile calls "the largest satellite-to-mobile constellation" in the world.
Key Features:
Works on over 60 phones, both Android and iPhone
No app needed, just use your phone's default messaging app
"SAT" icon appears when you're connected
Automatic connection when out of regular coverage
Message retry ensures texts go through despite brief satellite gaps
Interesting Insight:
During testing, users received 3x more messages than they sent, proving how effective the system is even in low-signal environments.
Availability & Pricing:
Included for free with Experience Beyond, Go5G, and Experience More (beta) plans
Add-on for other T-Mobile plans: $10/month
Non-T-Mobile customers can subscribe for a limited time at the same rate
Coverage spans continental U.S., Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and parts of Southern Alaska
Whether you’re hiking in the mountains or driving through rural America, T-Satellite ensures you’re never completely off the grid.
