Accord Party Leaders Rally Behind Gbenga Hashim for 2027 Presidential Race

Twenty-three state chairmen of the Accord Party have thrown their weight behind Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, officially welcoming his emergence as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
In a joint statement released on June 13, the party leaders said their endorsement followed extensive consultations and reflected the collective will of members expressed during the party’s presidential primaries. They emphasized that his emergence was the outcome of a democratic process and called on all stakeholders to respect the party’s internal democratic structures.

The endorsement comes amid ongoing debates within the party regarding differing views on the conduct and outcome of the presidential primaries. However, the chairmen maintained that the process was legitimate and urged members to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to party sources, additional state chairmen who could not attend the Abuja meeting also expressed support for the decision through separate consultations. The initiative was reportedly championed by the Lagos and Kaduna State chapters and enjoys backing from a majority of the National Working Committee.

The chairmen described Hashim as a unifying leader capable of addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges. They highlighted his democratic credentials, commitment to national development, and his ambitious $4 trillion economic blueprint focused on industrialization, energy expansion, job creation, and unlocking dormant national assets.

Calling for unity and discipline, the leaders urged party members and supporters nationwide to rally behind what they described as a strong and credible alternative for Nigeria’s future.
