Bandits Kill Emirate District Head’s Grandson, Abduct Nine In Fresh Kaduna Assaults
Repentant’ Bandits Strike Again: District Head’s Grandson Killed, Nine Abducted In Fresh Kaduna Attacks
Fresh fears have gripped communities in Kaduna State after suspected “repentant” bandits launched two separate attacks, killing a commercial driver and abducting nine people along the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari corridor.
The slain driver, Mallam Ibrahim Adamu, was reportedly the grandson of a District Head in the Birnin Gwari Emirate. Family sources said Ibrahim was travelling along the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Highway when armed men ambushed his vehicle at Kwanan Giginya.
Witnesses said the gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, killing Ibrahim instantly before whisking away at least five passengers to an unknown destination.
In a separate attack, four farmers working on their farmlands in the Kurgi area of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area were also abducted by heavily armed assailants.
The latest incidents have reignited concerns over the worsening security situation in the region, despite repeated claims that peace agreements with armed groups have reduced violence.
Residents say the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari axis remains a danger zone, with frequent reports of kidnappings, killings, and robberies disrupting farming, transportation, and daily life.
Community members further alleged that criminal groups operating in the area regularly seize motorcycles, mobile phones, cash, and other valuables from victims, while many attacks go largely unreported.
Frustrated residents are now urging security agencies to intensify patrols along the highway and strengthen protection for vulnerable rural communities before more lives are lost.Headline alternatives:
