“I Won the 2023 Election” — Peter Obi Insists Victory Was Denied, Says Truth Will Emerge One Day
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Peter Obi, has maintained that he was the true winner of Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election despite not being officially declared victorious.
Speaking during an interview with journalist Rufai Oseni, the former Anambra State governor boldly claimed that the outcome announced by electoral authorities did not reflect the actual result of the election.
Obi urged Nigerians to look beyond official declarations, insisting that history would eventually reveal what truly happened during the 2023 presidential contest.
“Do you know that in the last election I won? Forget about the proof, they didn’t declare me,” Obi said.
He further stated that although he has participated in several elections, the 2023 presidential race remains one he believes he genuinely won.
“I have contested elections in Nigeria as a presidential candidate and won. Leave what’s declared because one day the story will be told,” he added.
According to Obi, he remains focused on offering himself for service and is prepared to contest again in the future. He expressed confidence that the democratic process would eventually acknowledge what he described as his electoral victory.
“For now, I can tell you that I’m offering myself for the general election in Nigeria. One day, the process will recognise it,” he said.
Obi contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party and officially finished behind President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar according to the declared results.
