“Prove I Took Just 1% of Labour Party Donations and I’ll Quit Campaigning” — Peter Obi Fires Back at Critics
Speaking during an exclusive interview on Nevon Media hosted by Oseni Rufai on Tuesday, Obi dismissed allegations that he and activist Aisha Yesufu diverted party donations for personal use.
Reacting to claims that billions of naira were siphoned from Labour Party accounts, Obi described the accusations as baseless and demanded proof from those making the allegations.
“I don’t go by people talking nonsense,” Obi said. “They claimed we took ₦10 billion or $30 million from Labour Party accounts. Where is the account? Where is the evidence?”
The former Anambra State governor vowed to take a firm stance against his accusers, stating that he would soon publicly challenge them to substantiate their claims.
In a bold declaration, Obi said: “If anyone can prove that I took just 1% of Labour Party donations or was involved in any financial mismanagement, I will stop campaigning.”
The statement comes amid renewed political debates and allegations surrounding the management of campaign funds from the 2023 elections.
