Iranian Tankers Break Through Strait of Hormuz Blockade as Peace Deal Nears
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that three Iranian oil tankers and two vessels carrying essential supplies successfully passed through the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, marking what it described as the effective lifting of the restrictions.
According to the IRGC, the ships crossed the strategic waterway on Tuesday, signaling a major development in the ongoing efforts to ease tensions in the region.
The announcement came only hours after the US military stated that the blockade on Iranian ports would remain in place until the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States, scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.
The blockade was imposed by Washington in April, restricting vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports from navigating through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical oil transit routes.
In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, Iran, the United States, and Pakistan announced on Monday that negotiations to end the conflict had been finalized, with the formal agreement set to be signed on Friday.
Following the peace announcement, US President Donald Trump reportedly ordered the lifting of the anti-Iran naval blockade, paving the way for the resumption of maritime trade and oil exports.
The development is being seen as a major step toward de-escalation and renewed economic activity in the region.
