Primate Ayodele Breaks Silence on Kwankwaso’s N10 Billion Defamation Threat, Says “I Never Attacked Him”
Primate Ayodele Responds to Kwankwaso’s Defamation Allegations
The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has reacted to the N10 billion defamation threat issued against him by former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, insisting that he never intended to defame the politician.
The controversy erupted after Kwankwaso, who is currently the running mate of Peter Obi under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), accused the popular cleric of making damaging remarks during a sermon that was livestreamed and circulated online.
According to Kwankwaso’s legal representatives, Ayodele allegedly suggested that the former governor was not sincere in his political alliance with Obi and may have been financially motivated to accept the vice-presidential position.
“I Only Spoke What God Revealed” – Primate Ayodele
In a statement released through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele firmly denied any intention to tarnish Kwankwaso’s reputation.
The cleric explained that his comments were purely prophetic messages he received through divine revelation and were not personal attacks.
«“The purpose of my prophecies has never been to defame, malign, or attack anyone’s personality. I only speak based on what I receive from the throne of God,” Ayodele stated.»
He further stressed that he has never met Kwankwaso personally and has no existing disagreements or issues with him.
«“I have never met Senator Kwankwaso, nor have I had any personal issues with him. Therefore, there is absolutely no reason for me to deliberately target or attack him.”»
Ayodele Claims Prophecy Was Misunderstood
The renowned prophet maintained that his remarks were taken out of context and misrepresented by individuals with vested political interests.
According to him, some people manipulated his message, causing confusion and leading Kwankwaso to interpret the prophecy as a personal attack.
«“Sadly, even the politician misunderstood my statement and perceived it as an attempt to malign his character,” he said.»
Ayodele added that a simple clarification could have resolved the misunderstanding before it escalated into a legal dispute.
“I Respect Kwankwaso” – Cleric Declares
The INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church leader emphasized that he holds Kwankwaso in high regard and that his prophetic messages are never influenced by emotions, friendships, or personal grievances.
«“Kwankwaso is someone I respect, just as I respect every individual. My prophecies are never influenced by personal relationships, sentiments, or grievances.”»
He reiterated that he only communicates what he believes God reveals to him concerning individuals and national issues.
Warning Against Video Manipulation
Ayodele also used the opportunity to issue a stern warning to individuals allegedly editing or manipulating his videos to advance personal or political agendas.
He described such actions as misleading and unacceptable, warning that legal or appropriate actions could be taken against those responsible.
«“I strongly urge those involved to desist immediately, as appropriate action will be taken against anyone found guilty of deliberately altering my messages for ulterior motives.”»
Calls for Dialogue Instead of Threats
The cleric appealed to public figures and individuals mentioned in his prophecies to seek clarification whenever there is uncertainty rather than resorting to accusations or legal threats.
The ongoing dispute has generated significant attention across Nigeria’s political and religious landscape, with many observers closely watching whether Kwankwaso will proceed with the proposed N10 billion lawsuit.
