PRP Accuses Kwankwaso of Seizing 69 Nomination Forms, Threatens Legal Action
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of purchasing 69 nomination forms meant for various political offices in Kano State, a move the party says has thrown its aspirants into confusion.
Speaking at a press conference in Kano, PRP State Chairman Abdulkadir Musa Guza alleged that party members who had paid for nomination forms were left stranded after discovering that all available forms had already been obtained.
According to Guza, he traveled to Kaduna for a party retreat and to collect forms for aspirants from Kano, only to be informed that the forms had been purchased by a single individual.
"When I sought clarification, the party’s National Secretary told me the forms had been taken by Kwankwaso because discussions were ongoing regarding his possible defection to the PRP," Guza stated.
However, the chairman claimed that after waiting several days without any sign of Kwankwaso joining the party, suspicions grew that the move was intended to disrupt the PRP’s activities.
He further alleged that Kwankwaso may have acquired nomination forms from other political parties as well, creating uncertainty for numerous aspirants preparing for upcoming elections.
Guza warned that the PRP is prepared to take legal action if the forms are not returned before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for candidate submissions.
The party says hundreds of its members who intended to contest various positions are now unsure of their political future, while claiming that similar concerns are being experienced by other political parties.
