Trump Warns Netanyahu: Lebanon War Could Jeopardize Historic Iran Peace Deal

US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expressing concern that Israel’s ongoing military campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon could undermine the fragile peace process recently established with Iran.
Speaking to reporters ahead of a meeting with G7 leaders in France, Trump emphasized the United States’ long-standing support for Israel while urging Netanyahu to exercise greater restraint.

“Israel would have been blown up a long time ago if I had not gotten involved,” Trump said, reiterating his belief that US backing remains crucial to Israel’s security. He also called on the Israeli leader to be “more responsible” in handling the conflict in Lebanon.

The comments came as Iran warned that continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon could be viewed as a violation of the interim agreement announced on Sunday to end hostilities in the region. While Israeli officials maintain they are not bound by the agreement because they were not part of the negotiations, Iran insists that Israel’s actions directly affect the peace process.

Trump criticized Israel’s prolonged campaign against Hezbollah, arguing that the conflict has dragged on for too long and resulted in excessive civilian casualties.

“You don’t have to knock down an apartment building every time you’re looking for somebody,” Trump said, adding that many innocent people are caught in the violence.

He further suggested that Syria could play a larger role in confronting Hezbollah, claiming it might handle the situation more effectively.

With public opposition growing in Israel and regional tensions remaining high, the success of the emerging Iran peace deal may depend on whether all parties can prevent further escalation.
