The comments have reignited global debate over the authority of the International Criminal Court (ICC), diplomatic immunity, and whether the United States can enforce ICC arrest warrants despite not being a member of the court.

Mamdani: 'Netanyahu Belongs in The Hague'

Speaking during The New York Times podcast The Interview, Mayor Mamdani said he believes Netanyahu should answer the allegations against him before the International Criminal Court.

According to the mayor, his administration is actively consulting legal experts to determine whether New York City has any legal authority regarding the ICC warrant should the Israeli leader visit for the UN General Assembly.
