Enugu Forest Guard Rescues Kidnap Victim, Arrests Four Suspects in Major Anti-Crime Operation
Enugu, Nigeria – The Enugu State Forest Guard has recorded another significant breakthrough in its ongoing fight against kidnapping, violent crime, and insecurity, successfully rescuing a kidnapped victim and arresting four suspected criminals during an intelligence-led operation in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out by operatives of the Enugu State Forest Guard under the leadership of Commander Dr. Akinbayo O. Olasoji, took place in the Ette Sector following credible intelligence received by security personnel.
According to a statement signed by the State Commander and released through the Corps' Public Relations Officer, Uliaga Geraldine Chiagozie, the Forest Guard acted swiftly after receiving reports that a young man, Mr. Samson Eleje Abah, had allegedly been lured into a forest, abducted, and held captive by suspected criminals.
Victim Rescued Unharmed
Following a carefully coordinated rescue mission, Forest Guard operatives stormed the location and successfully rescued the victim without injuries.
Security personnel also arrested three suspects identified as:
- Reuben Okwudili
- Reuben Gebechukwu Chinoso
- Reuben Emeka
The suspects have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for a full investigation and possible prosecution in accordance with Nigerian law.
Fourth Suspect Arrested Over Alleged Ritual Connection
Further intelligence gathered during the operation led security operatives to arrest John Agbo, a resident of Ofante Egberi in Kogi State.
Authorities allege that Agbo travelled to the area to carry out ritual activities believed to be connected to the suspected kidnapping. He has also been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
Community Leaders Back Security Agencies
Preliminary investigations revealed that community leaders had previously raised concerns about alleged criminal activities involving some of the suspects and had repeatedly shared intelligence with security agencies.
Following the arrests, traditional rulers and community leaders strongly condemned the alleged crimes and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting law enforcement through timely intelligence sharing.
The community also announced traditional sanctions against the family of the principal suspects in line with local customs while emphasizing that criminality will not be tolerated.
Intelligence-Led Operations Deliver Results
The latest operation highlights the growing effectiveness of intelligence-driven security strategies being implemented by the Enugu State Forest Guard in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.
Commander Dr. Akinbayo O. Olasoji praised the courage, professionalism, and swift response of the operatives who participated in the mission.
