The congressman also revealed that the US House of Representatives is considering an appropriations bill containing key provisions relating to Nigeria, particularly on religious freedom, governance, and US security assistance.

According to Moore, lawmakers are working alongside Congressman Chris Smith on legislation aimed at strengthening US engagement with Nigeria while addressing issues of democratic accountability and human rights.

"We're working on Chris Smith's bill, which I'm a co-sponsor of. More importantly, people need to pay attention to the appropriations bill that we're going to have on the floor today," he stated.

Moore added that the proposed legislation contains "strong and aggressive language" regarding Nigeria's relationship with the United States, underscoring Washington's continued interest in political developments in Africa's largest democracy.
