Honor Magic V5 Launching July 2: Slimmest Foldable Yet at 8.8mm, Snapdragon 8 Elite, 6,100mAh Battery & IP69 Rating
Honor is pushing the boundaries of foldable phone design once again with the upcoming launch of the Honor Magic V5, scheduled for July 2. The new flagship foldable is set to break the thickness barrier, coming in at just 8.8mm when closed, making it a strong contender for the thinnest horizontal foldable phone yet — surpassing even the Magic V3 (9.2mm).
According to leaks from Digital Chat Station, the Magic V5 will feature a lightweight design at 217g, slimmer and lighter than many traditional smartphones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra (218g) and iPhone 16 Pro Max (227g).
Key Honor Magic V5 Specs (Leaked):
Thickness: 8.8mm (closed)
Weight: 217g
Battery: Massive 6,100mAh, 66W wired & 50W wireless charging
Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite (possibly the Leading Version)
Displays:
6.45-inch cover screen
8-inch main foldable display
Cameras:
Rear: 50MP main + 50MP ultra-wide + either 50MP or 64MP telephoto (3x periscope)
Front: Dual 20MP selfie cameras
Other Features:
Side-mounted fingerprint scanner
IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance (a huge leap over current IP48-rated foldables)
IR blaster & NFC
Honor is clearly focusing on premium build quality and everyday usability, pairing high-end performance with features rarely seen in foldables — especially the rumored IP69 water resistance and the substantial battery life in such a thin frame.
Bonus Launch: MagicPad 3
Alongside the Magic V5, Honor is expected to unveil the MagicPad 3, adding to the brand’s growing portfolio of flagship-tier devices.
With growing competition from the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 and other foldable rivals, the Magic V5’s ultra-slim design, powerful chipset, and next-gen durability could give it a serious edge.
