Huawei Pura 80 Ultra Teardown Reveals Impressive Dual-Zoom Camera Module with 140-Part Mechanism
The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra was unveiled just last week, and thanks to YouTuber Yang Changshun, we now have an early look inside the device through a detailed teardown.
In a fascinating 14-minute teardown video (though the full process took nearly an hour), Changshun disassembles the Pura 80 Ultra to expose its intricate engineering — most notably the moving dual-lens zoom camera module, which sits above a 1/1.28-inch sensor.
The teardown involved cutting open the camera module, revealing a dual-zoom system consisting of:
83mm f/2.4 lens (3.7x zoom)
212mm f/3.6 lens (9.4x zoom)
These lenses are positioned over the largest zoom sensor ever used in a smartphone, where the mid-telephoto lens utilizes the full 50MP sensor and the longer telephoto uses 12.5MP of it. The lenses shift using a motorized mechanism made up of around 140 components, highlighting Huawei's cutting-edge camera engineering.
Microscope frames from the video give us a closer look at this intricate construction. It’s a remarkable feat, showcasing Huawei’s continued push into mobile photography innovation.
Expect more teardowns and analysis as tech reviewers explore the full potential of the Pura 80 Ultra in the coming weeks.
