Kia EV4 GT Spotted Testing: A Budget Tesla Model 3 Performance Rival Coming in 2026
Kia is building serious buzz around its all-new electric sedan, the EV4, which is already available for pre-orders in South Korea and is slated for a European launch later this year. But what’s really turning heads is the upcoming high-performance EV4 GT, spotted recently in camouflage near Kia’s R&D facility.
A New Breed of EV Sedan
Kia describes the EV4 as “an entirely new type of EV sedan,” pairing sleek fastback styling with a wide, confident stance. It’s a design that blends everyday practicality with sporty appeal. In South Korea, the standard EV4 starts at 41.92 million won—approximately €27,000, making it an affordable option in the EV market.
European and North American pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet, but estimates suggest a starting price between €31,500 and €36,000 in the US when it launches in 2026.
Enter the EV4 GT: Kia’s Performance Challenger
For enthusiasts craving more performance, the EV4 GT promises to be a standout. Following in the tire tracks of the EV6 GT—which packs 576 hp and goes from 0-97 km/h in just 3.4 seconds—the EV4 GT could deliver similar thrills in a smaller, more affordable package. Some are even calling it a potential Tesla Model 3 Performance rival.
Spy photos captured by HealerTV show a GT interior inspired by the premium Kia EV9 GT, with some subtle material changes. Notably, the EV4 GT will feature Kia’s new ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit), including a panoramic curved display with dual 12.3-inch screens for both the instrument cluster and infotainment system.
Dual-Motor AWD and Larger Battery Expected
The EV4 GT is expected to use a dual-motor AWD setup for better traction and speed. It will likely come with the larger 81.4 kWh battery, which in the standard EV4 offers up to 533 km of range. This ensures that performance doesn’t come at the expense of practicality.
Other standout GT features will likely include:
A more aggressive front-end design
Sportier wheels and body kit
Enhanced performance tuning
Charging, Range, and Expected Pricing
The EV4 will support the NACS (North American Charging Standard) in the US, allowing access to Tesla's Supercharger network. The projected EPA-estimated range for the EV4 is up to 531 km.
As for pricing, while the base EV4 may start around €31,500 to €36,000, the EV4 GT could land in the €45,000 to €49,600 range—significantly undercutting the Kia EV6 GT, which starts at €57,500.
