Samsung Galaxy A55 Spotted Running Android 16, One UI 8 Stable Update Expected by End of 2025

Samsung’s next big software update, One UI 8 based on Android 16, is currently in beta for the Galaxy S25 series in select markets. While older and mid-range Galaxy phones may have to wait, signs point to the Galaxy A55 joining the Android 16 club sooner rather than later.

The Galaxy A55 (model SM-A556E) was recently spotted on Geekbench running Android 16, indicating Samsung has begun internal testing of One UI 8 for the device. Powered by the Exynos 1480, the A55 is one of Samsung’s most popular mid-range phones, so it makes sense that it’s on the priority list.

Based on Samsung’s usual rollout pattern, the One UI 8 beta for the Galaxy A55 should go live in the coming months, with a stable release expected by late 2025. Until then, users will continue on One UI 7 (Android 15).
