vivo X Fold5 Confirmed to Be Thinner, Lighter, and More Durable with 6,000mAh Battery and IPX9+ Rating
The upcoming vivo X Fold5 is set to launch on June 25, and ahead of the reveal, vivo has been steadily teasing its flagship foldable. Now, thanks to new statements from company executive Han Boxiao, we have concrete details on how the X Fold5 improves over its predecessor.
The X Fold5 will be 2mm thinner and 20g lighter than the X Fold3 Pro, making it around 216g and 9.2mm thick when folded. Impressively, this slimmed-down design still houses a 6,000mAh battery, up from 5,700mAh in the previous model. This is made possible by the world’s first fourth-generation silicon anode battery with 2.5x more silicon, boosting energy density by 13%. The battery also features semi-solid electrolyte tech that enables performance in extreme cold down to -30°C.
Durability gets a major upgrade too, with the X Fold5 offering IP5X solid and IPX9+ water resistance — a new high for foldables. The IPX9+ certification means the phone can withstand folding and unfolding even while submerged.
The device also features LTPO 8T OLED displays on both the cover and main screens, supporting a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, along with Zeiss Master Color calibration for vibrant, accurate visuals.
