WhatsApp Testing New Feature That Lets Others Share Your Status Updates – Now Live in Beta
WhatsApp is rolling out a brand-new feature in its latest beta for Android: the ability to allow others to share your status updates. This update is currently being tested and is expected to reach the stable version in the coming weeks or months.
The feature is simple but powerful. By default, the option is turned off, so you’ll need to manually enable it each time you post a new status. Once activated, your contacts can share that specific status update—and you'll receive a notification when they do.
To protect privacy, those who view the re-shared status won’t know you were the original poster. Also, if someone shares your status and then another person re-shares it, you won’t get notified about the second share—only the first one is tracked. Each share essentially becomes a separate version of the content.
Previously, status sharing was limited only to people directly mentioned in a status. With this update, you can significantly expand the reach of your updates, if you choose to allow sharing.
This enhancement is especially useful for creators, influencers, or anyone looking to increase the visibility of their WhatsApp status content.
