Xiaomi CEO Denies Rumored YU7 EV Price: Final Pricing To Be Revealed at Launch

Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun has officially dismissed the rumored pricing circulating around the upcoming Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV, during a recent investor conference. Local reports in China had suggested the YU7 would cost CNY 20,000 (~€2,500) more than the SU7, Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle that debuted last year.
Under that rumor, the YU7 would have started at CNY 235,900 (~€29,500) versus the SU7’s starting price of CNY 215,900 (~€26,900). However, Lei Jun firmly stated that this speculation is "false", adding that pricing the YU7 is not as simple as adding a flat premium over the SU7.

Lei Jun also revealed that the final pricing is still undecided and will only be revealed one to two days before the official launch, which aligns with Xiaomi's usual last-minute pricing strategy—similar to how it handles its smartphone announcements.

One thing is certain though: the YU7 will not start at CNY 235,900, as previously rumored, leaving everyone guessing until the final reveal.

Final Thoughts

The YU7 seems poised to compete in the premium EV market with its performance specs and tech-forward platform, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see how competitively it will be priced.
