Xiaomi Fast-Tracks YU7 SUV Launch Amid Strong Demand – Could This Be the Next EV Sensation?
Xiaomi is accelerating the launch of its second electric vehicle, the YU7 SUV, moving it from July to the end of June 2025. CEO Lei Jun confirmed the early debut via Weibo, sparking massive excitement. Following the massive success of the SU7 sedan, Xiaomi is riding high on EV momentum. Display units of the YU7 are already in 317 stores across 86 cities, and initial demand is reportedly triple that of the SU7.
President Lu Weibing revealed that paid deposits by late May outpaced previous launches, suggesting the YU7 could become Xiaomi's next electric hit. While pricing remains secret, Lei Jun debunked rumors of a RMB 235,900 (€29,600) starting price and hinted the SUV won’t be RMB 20,000 more than the SU7 sedan (starting at RMB 215,900). The official price will be unveiled just days before launch— a strategic move to maintain suspense and respond to the market.
With consistent sales of over 20,000 SU7 units monthly and a goal to hit profitability by late 2025, Xiaomi is placing big bets on the YU7. All eyes now turn to the end-of-June launch to see if this SUV can replicate or even surpass the SU7's success.
