vivo Tops Indian Smartphone Market in Q2 2025 with 8.1 Million Shipments and 21% Market Share
vivo has emerged as the top smartphone brand in India for Q2 2025, shipping 8.1 million units and capturing a 21% market share, according to the latest Canalys report. This marks a 31% year-over-year growth for vivo, highlighting its rising dominance in both offline and online markets across India.
The strong performance was driven by the success of the vivo V50 series in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, backed by wedding-led campaigns and strategic retail expansion. The Y-series maintained traction in semi-urban and rural markets, while the T-series saw consistent growth online thanks to an expanded portfolio.
📊 Q2 2025 Indian Smartphone Market Highlights:
1st – vivo: 8.1M units | 21% share | +31% YoY
2nd – Samsung: 6.2M units | 16% share | +2% YoY
3rd – Oppo: 5M units | 13% share | +24% YoY
4th – Xiaomi: 5M units | 13% share | -25% YoY
5th – Realme: 3.6M units | 9% share | -17% YoY
The overall Indian smartphone market grew 7% YoY, reaching 39 million units shipped, the highest quarterly volume since Q3 2024.
📉 Apple Struggles in Q2 2025:
Apple ranked sixth, with more than 55% of its shipments coming from the iPhone 16 lineup. However, the iPhone 16e underperformed post-launch due to criticism around its single-camera setup and lack of compelling Apple Intelligence features. Canalys expects a slight decline in Apple’s full-year performance as demand weakens.
Oppo also had a solid quarter, powered by the offline popularity of the A5 series and growing online presence of the K13.
📌 Takeaway:
vivo’s multi-channel strategy, localized marketing, and wide product portfolio have helped it outpace rivals like Samsung, Oppo, and Xiaomi to claim the No.1 spot in India’s booming smartphone market.
