Tecno Unveils Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept: Inward-Folding Tri-Fold Phone with 9.94” Display and 5,000mAh+ Battery

Tecno is back in the spotlight with its latest innovation—the Phantom Ultimate G Fold, a groundbreaking tri-fold foldable phone concept that prioritizes durability, thin design, and cutting-edge engineering. A successor to last year’s Phantom Ultimate 2 tri-fold prototype, this new concept reimagines foldable phone design with a fresh approach.
Unlike the previous out-folding Phantom Ultimate 2 (and similar designs like the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate), the G Fold folds inward, ensuring that the entire 9.94-inch main display is safely enclosed when the phone is folded. Tecno adds a dedicated cover display, offering usability without exposing the flexible screen—much like current horizontal bi-folds.

What sets the Phantom Ultimate G Fold apart is its dual-hinge mechanism. A small hinge folds one-third of the display into a teardrop shape, while a larger hinge folds the rest. A self-locking system keeps the device closed securely. Despite this complex folding system, Tecno achieves an impressive 11.49mm thickness when folded, and just 3.49mm when fully unfolded—beating Huawei's 12.8mm folded and 3.6–4.8mm unfolded tri-fold dimensions.
Tecno says the G Fold packs a battery capacity of over 5,000mAh, a notable feat for such a slim device. While exact numbers weren’t revealed, it places the G Fold close to Huawei’s 5,600mAh tri-fold benchmark.

Camera specs are still under wraps, but the triple-camera setup sits on the middle panel, putting it on the rear when folded. The flexible hinges allow the phone to hold various angles, essentially turning it into a tripod-style camera system—great for selfies and long exposure shots.
To achieve its sleek and strong structure, Tecno used ultra-high-strength steel rated at 2,000MPa, along with a 0.3mm Titan Fiber plate on the back cover, maximizing durability while keeping weight in check (though final weight details haven't been shared yet).
Other key specs like cover display size, chipset brand, and software details remain undisclosed for now. Tecno is only calling the processor “high-performance,” leaving more to be revealed closer to potential production.
Although it remains a concept phone, the Phantom Ultimate G Fold is expected to make a public appearance at MWC 2026, where Tecno will showcase its latest innovations—including possible sequels to the Phantom V Fold and Phantom V Flip.

This tri-fold concept signals Tecno’s serious ambition in the foldable smartphone space, pushing the limits of design, engineering, and portability.
